I am currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa and a member of the Algebra Group and the Lie Theory Group as well as the Network of Ontario Lie Theorists. I completed my undergraduate degree (combined honours mathematics and physics) at the University of British Columbia and my Ph.D. at Yale University under the supervision of Igor Frenkel. After graduating, I spent a semester at the Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik in Bonn, Germany before spending two and a half years as an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto and the Fields Institute. My current research involves the use of geometric methods such as quiver varieties and Hilbert schemes to study various topics in representation theory. For a more detailed description of my research interests, click here.

Call for papers: Categorification in representation theory

Prospective Undergraduate and Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows: Those interested in working with me at the undergraduate (e.g. NSERC USRA), graduate, or postdoctoral level, should look at my research page.

Teaching: In the 2009/2010 academic year, I will be teaching the following courses:

Upcoming Workshops/Conferences: The following is a list of upcoming workshops or conferences in which I am involved either as an organizer or a participant. If you would like to be added to a mailing list for updates on algebra-related mathematical events happening in Ottawa (and perhaps other places), please send me an email.
